ABOUT THE SHOW:

Following her critically acclaimed run in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, NYC-based comedian and viral sensation Maria DeCotis is premiering a fresh take on her new one-woman show: EMOTIONALLY UNREASONABLE.

Have you ever felt threatened when someone shows you their engagement ring? Have you ever been to a wedding and thought, “these people should NOT be getting married?!” Maria DeCotis has too, except she's the one marrying them. EMOTIONALLY UNREASONABLE is an hour of stand-up and musical comedy about her experience as a professional wedding officiant. In 60 minutes of powerful storytelling, original music, and punchlines you never see coming, she explores power imbalances, sex robots, turning 30, and her unique perspective on relationships.

“DeCotis is a rare and welcome discovery.”

- The Scotsman (2023)

“DeCotis is the best new American stand-up I’ve seen since Michelle Wolf. Do whatever you can to see her because the next chance you get she’ll be starring in her own Netflix special.”

“The songs in Emotionally Unreasonable - in particular the titular number - are the best part of the set, to the point where we start to look forward to the next song as each one ends.”

“DeCotis has a very strong voice and the power that she possesses is incredibly impressive. She performs these big numbers that you’d expect to find on Broadway or in a speakeasy in the 1920s, and are great examples of comedic and musical dexterity.”

-Broadway Baby (2023)

“Sure, she’s a staple of the New York comedy scene, but Edinburgh takes the cake.”

- Playbill (2023)
